Still Life…

Still Life With Commentator : A War Oratorio
(2005 – 2006)

Commissioned by BAM Next Wave Festival New York, for this piece composer Vijay Iyer, poet Mike Ladd & Ibrahim Quraishi teamed up to create an explosive war oratorio, darkly lyrical, cross-media in its approach to the role of modern warfare & its inevitable relationship to mass media, while attempting to address our historical hunger for unspeakable tragedies. In ‘Still Life,‘ the post-9/11 surveillance culture is prismatically refracted into 7 narratives.
